The next meeting of RFU Council is Friday, November 22nd. Community
Game Board is, currently, meeting on a regular basis (see below) with the next
meeting scheduled for November 21st
Council Members – at the Council Meeting on October 5th
we welcomed the following as new members of Council :
·
Roger Clarke
(Kent)
·
Terry Burwell
(Hampshire)
·
Maureen Jackson
(Devon)
·
Ewen Murchison
(Royal Navy)
·
Rob Walsh
(Oxfordshire)
Council also confirmed Louise Latter as the W&G representative to
Council. Louise takes over from Deborah
Griffin who is now a member of World Rugby. Louise is an ex-international and
current member of Wasps, she also sits on the Middlesex Committee.
RFU Staff Consultation - The staff consultation has now finished. A total of 61 roles were made
redundant. Of these 14 members of staff took voluntary redundancy. 7 members of
staff were re-employed in different roles, meaning that a total of 54 people
left the RFU. There is now a period of consolidation whilst new roles are
defined. If you require a contact at
Twickenham then you should, in the first instance, get in touch with your local
RDO who will be able to help.
Staff Appointments – two new members of staff will be
joining the RFU shortly. Vivien Rimmer has been appointed Head
of Safeguarding. Vivien comes from a Social Work background and is an ex player
for Bath Ladies. She is now active at Twickenham RUFC. Following the departure of Lucinda Pullinger,
Derren Young takes over as Human
Resources Director from mid-November.
Derren joins the RFU from Electronic Arts where he held a similar role. Derren
is a keen supporter of Harlequins. We wish
them both well in their new roles.
Board Membership – Jeff Blackett has now relinquished
the role of Chairman of the Professional Game Board. The Chairmanship has now
passed to PRL but under RFU Rules Phil de Glanville becomes the PGB
representative on the RFU Board.
Community Game Board – CGB (of which Jim Chapman is a
member) is meeting on a regular basis in order to consider the budget before the
Business Planning Meeting in January 2019. The budget will consider three main “critical
tasks” – Recruit, Retain and Re-Engage – and how budget should be allocated to
these three areas. Underlying the critical tasks are the “fundamentals” of Volunteers,
Coaches, Referees and Medics, Facilities, Competitions/Playing Opportunities
and Protecting Players. CGB has had some long meetings considering the ratios
behind these tasks and fundamentals and will next meet on 21st
November for further consideration. A meeting is also planned in December
before actually stating work on the budget in January 2019. The process is
expected to end in May 2019.
Don’t Forget !!
- We’re sure you haven’t but we hope you have already got your tickets
for England Women vs Canada at Doncaster Knights on Sunday 18th
November (kick off is 2:00 p.m.) – See you there !!
